From it's conception I have intended
"fagart unlimited", to expand beyond myself, to incorporate
and highlight the works of other fag artists from a variety of
disiplines. I have been asked; Why "fag art"? How does this
differ from other art? My answer is, like the art of any
sub-cultural, such as African American art or Latino art or women's
art, fag artists deal with experiences that are unique to their
culture. My intent is not to lessen or dismiss the work of others but
rather to acknowledge the individual perspectives, issues of concern
and facts of life, as seen through the eyes of gay men.
The following feature is the first of an
ongoing series that highlight the art of self-indentified "fag
artists".
